There is an endless list of flowers that can be created and the more practice and experimentation the better your skills will be. There are lots of different types of clay that are perfect for flower sculpting. This post offers a few examples of the types of flowers that can be made with cold porcelain clay and stone based air dry clay using, a variety of techniques and tools.

Cold porcelain clay  and polymer clay provide a much finer detail than some other clay's and are perfect for using with silicone mould or giving the petals a more realistic texture.

These pretty sunflower style flowers are made up from a variety of mixed mediums. The flowers are made from cold porcelain. A silicone mould was used to create the very detailed flowers and then they were hand painted. They are attached to fine craft wire and set in a large lump of air dry clay as it provides added weight and structure to the pot. The leaves are cut from thick green card and shaped and attached with craft tape.

These lovely blue flowers are made exactly the same way as the previous ones except they are cut out using daisy flower punch cutters, which are sold as sugar craft tools but are also perfect for lots of clay projects. In fact many sugar craft equipment and techniques are exactly the same as clay work. Sugar craft tools are also often much cheaper than clay tools so it is always worth checking them out.

These pretty flowers have been created using a silicone mould for the flowers and a metal leaf cutter for the leaves. After cutting out the leaf shape, mould it around the craft wire to give it a more realistic shape.
